My passion is to create opportunities to share the radical and useful practices of mindfulness with anyone interested in calming their minds and opening their hearts. The great simplicity and power of living wakefully, lovingly, and wisely is needed right now as we meet our own personal challenges of confusion, fear, anger, addiction and self-centeredness, as well as meeting the global challenges of poverty, hunger, violence, war and oppression. As we learn to stop the war within us, we will naturally influence the discord in our families, our communities, our country, and the whole of our precious world.
Meditation is activism. We learn to put compassion into action from a place of clear seeing and equanimity. As Indian political and spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi advised, “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”
Marianne Williamson (in Return to Love) writes: “We are all meant to shine, as children do… It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we subconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we’re liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
I do hope you will join in this experiment of living mindfully. What you have to offer is needed in this precious world.
May the sun bring you new energy by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night,
May the rain wash away your worries,
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
